La Declaration UNESCO Universal Declaration on Cultural Diversity is a Valid identity document of UNESCO adopted by the General Conference of UNESCO on 2 November 2001. The Declaration, reaffirming the derechos human rights and fundamental freedoms of the Declaration Universal of Rights Humans, and affirming that respect for the diversity of cultures, tolerance, dialogue and cooperation, in a climate of confidence. and mutual understanding, are one of the best guarantors of the peace and international security, aspires to "a Most solidarity founded in the recognition of cultural diversity, in the awareness of the unity of the human race and in the development of intercultural exchanges.” [1]
La Declaration UNESCO's Universal Declaration on Cultural Diversity was adopted by unanimity at a very unique juncture. The events of 11 September 2001 had just taken place and the thirty-first session of the General Conference of UNESCO was the first major meeting of the General Conference of UNESCO. level ministerial after that to date unfortunate. This gave the States the occasion to reaffirm its conviction that intercultural dialogue is the best Warranty de peace, and to categorically reject the thesis that predicted an inevitable clash between cultures and civilizations.
La Declaration Universal insists on the done that each individual must recognize not only otherness in all its forms, but also the plural character of his or her own identity within equally plural societies. - La Declaration contains four parts
- The first treats of the identity, diversity and pluralism, which proclamation at their article 1 that cultural diversity is . of humanity. There an analogy is established between culture and nature: “A source of exchange, innovation and creativity, cultural diversity is as necessary for the human race as biological diversity is for living organisms. In this sense, it constitutes the . común of humanity and must be recognized and consolidated in benefit of present and future generations.” Cultural diversity is also considered to be one of the sources of development, understood not only in terms of economic growth, but also as a means of access to an intellectual, emotional, moral and spiritually satisfying.
- The second part takes care of the relationship between cultural diversity and derechos humans, considering derechos humans as guarantors of cultural diversity: “The defense of cultural diversity is an ethical imperative, inseparable from respect for the dignity of the person human. She assumes the commitment to respect the derechos humans and fundamental freedoms, in particular derechos of people belonging to minorities and those of indigenous peoples.” And he adds that “No one can invoke cultural diversity to violate the rights of derechos humans guaranteed by the right international, nor to limit its scope.”
- Cultural diversity and creativity is the theme of the third part, understanding that all creation has its origins in cultural traditions, and at the same time develops fully in contact with other cultures.
